Biography
Marcia Rioux, Ph.D (University of California, Berkeley - Jurisprudence and Social Policy) is a Distinguished Research Professor in the School of Health Policy and Management, York University, Canada and teaches Critical Disability Studies and Health Policy and Equity at York University in Toronto, Canada. She has published widely in the area of disability and human rights. She has taught, researched and advised on policy issues in numerous countries, including the Americas, Europe, Latin America and Asia. She is currently compiling, as Executive Editor, an encyclopedia on Critical Disability Studies (Springer). She was made a member of the Order of Canada in 2014.

Current Research
Dr. Rioux's research addresses a broad range of public and health policy issues including health and human rights, universal education, international monitoring of disability rights, the impact of globalization on welfare policy, literacy policy, disability policy, and social inclusion. Currently she is working on projects on law and disability and on international human rights monitoring and indicators for the Conventional on the Rights of Persons with dsiabilites and the Social Develpment Goals
